Top 5 Things to Do, Weekly Flavor Fest, and an Unexpected Sports Round-up
⸺Your Weekly Guide to Fun and Community Intel
Welcome back to the weekly guide to living your best Frisco life! Happy New Year’s Eve! 🎉🥂 As we close out 2024, this edition is packed with can’t-miss events, a rising sports round-up, and new community highlights!
And be sure to hang with us in 2025, Frisco — we have BIG plans! 👏👏
Now, let’s get to it.

Top 5 Things to Do This Week in Frisco
🎥🌟 Catch a Family-Friendly Flick: Head to the PGA District for the Friday Night Movies series. Chillax under the stars; the film starts at 7:00. Don't forget your lawn blanket and leashed furry friends!
👠🕺 Secure Tickets for “High Tops and High Heels": It’s time to buy your tickets for Frisco’s annual mother-son and daddy-daughter dances on February 8th. This event will sell out…thus this reminder to grab tickets now before they’re gone!
🌐🎨 Check out Cosm: Las Vegas has The Sphere and we have The Dome at Grandscape. The ultimate shared reality experience, this week’s line-up includes a Holiday edition of Orbital, live college Bowl games, a Pop Art-Orbital double feature, plus NBA and NFL games.
🏀🎉 Cheer for the Texas Legends: Possibly the least expensive and high-value sporting event on the market, the Texas Legends play the Austin Spurs on January 6th at 3:30. It’s a blast for families and Mavs fans alike.
⛸️❄️ Work on Your Triple Axel: Reserve an ice skating sesh on the outdoor rink in Frisco Square before it closes after January 6.
Weekly Flavor Fest
January 7th is National Tempura Day. So then obviously this week’s flavor moment must be Japanese cuisine! Among the many delish sushi offerings at Hikari Sushi and Grill in West Frisco, you’ll find noodles, poke bowls, Asian fusion entrees, and a wide assortment of tempura rolls. And if their reputation for authentic flavors isn’t enough, perhaps you’ll appreciate their creativity when naming dishes: On the Appetizer menu, try the “Monkey Brains” or the “Heart Attack” and on the Special Rolls menu, the “Ex-Girlfriend” or “Ex-Boyfriend.” The “Hot Geisha” sounds interesting, and we all need to try the “Frisco Roll.”
Frisco Rumor Mill
The latest whispers and speculations about exciting local developments, from potential new biz openings to upcoming community projects and events everyone is talking about.
Rejection hurts: Frisco ISD is seeking input from the community to understand the reasons behind the failure of the 2024 bond election. The survey, which consists of 18 questions, asks residents about each election proposition, their main sources of information on the bond issues, and what priorities they think Frisco ISD should focus on for future bonds. It also provides an opportunity for voters to offer specific suggestions for future bond proposals. The survey is open until 11:59 p.m. on January 5, 2025.
Frisco Locks Down Second Place: A new study from MoneyGeek ranks Frisco as the second safest city in the U.S., only falling behind Ramapo Town, New York. The report assessed the city's violent and property crime rates per 100,000 residents, with Frisco performing impressively. It recorded the third-lowest violent crime rate, with only 86 crimes per 100,000 residents.
Sports Spotlight
From rec to pro, there’s always, always (literally always) a game to catch in “Sports City USA.”
From cricket bats 🏏 and badminton 🏸 to pickleball paddles 🏓 and banana ball 🍌, Frisco continues to offer residents and visitors diverse ways to play, compete, and stay active. Around the Metroplex
Although we’re proud of our Frisco-centric-ness, sometimes we go a little rogue to keep our pulse on cool happenings south of the Sam Rayburn.
Hot Girls Read: In a little blue house tucked among one-story homes along West Eighth Street in the Bishop Arts District, pink bookshelves feature an assortment of contemporary romance books and an array of cute merchandise. Aptly named “Blush Bookstore,” it’s the first romance bookstore in Dallas, the front window of which proclaims, “Happily Ever Afters Inside.”

Rec of the Week
Get ready to discover your next obsession. Each week, we handpick a gem just for you — a binge-worthy podcast, a must-have product, or an interesting news story.
We’re not stingy - we share the media love with other outlets from time to time. With that in mind, we’re highlighting this great feature about “55 New Year's Resolution Ideas for 2025.” Among the many great ideas on the list, our favorites are: remove negativity or anything that makes you feel lousy, stop multitasking, and call a friend instead of texting them.
Bonus rec of the week: Watch Season 5, episode 11 of Friends: “The One With All the Resolutions.” Ross + leather pants + lotion has to be one of the best scenes ever.
