Weekly Flavor Fest

Head into to the City and say, “Bonjour!” Dallas is about to get a chic Parisian touch with the grand opening of Café Dior on February 22nd — but guess what? We heard that reservations are already available for booking! Nestled inside the elegant Dior boutique at Highland Park Village, this café is the brainchild of Michelin-starred chef Dominique Crenn.

Imagine stepping into a world where haute couture meets haute cuisine. Chef Crenn has crafted a menu that pays homage to the iconic designs of Dior, transforming fashion into flavors. One standout dish, the La Colle Noire chicken, is inspired by a stunning green dress from the '70s, complete with an herb sauce and Tuscan kale. Another highlight is the Miss Dior Consommé, adorned with edible flowers, echoing the floral embroideries of the famous Miss Dior dress.

But it's not just about the food. The café's ambiance is designed to transport you to a Parisian dream, blending the elegance of Dior's legacy with Crenn's culinary artistry. Plus, the commitment to using local ingredients ensures that every bite is as fresh and vibrant as the city itself.

So, whether you're a fashion aficionado, a foodie, or just looking for a new spot to enjoy a delightful meal beyond Frisco’s borders, Café Dior by Dominique Crenn promises an unforgettable experience. Bon appétit!

Frisco Rumor Mill

The latest whispers and speculations about exciting local developments, from potential new biz openings to upcoming community projects and events everyone is talking about.

  • Some Frisco residents share a big vision for a shiny new performing arts center. Voters will decide on a $160 million bond in May whether or not to bring Broadway shows and more to town, which some suggest can come to fruition without raising property taxes. Others say McKinney is already doing it, so let’s not. You can cast your vote at the polls.

  • Expect some fun developments within the parks and trails system in 2025. Ten years in the making, the city plans to break ground on Grand Park - yep, seriously - which will feature kayaking ponds, a nature center, and more within its 300-acre Community Hub. (Does it seem like many things are referred to as “hubs” lately? 🤔) Additionally, Northeast Community Park — where many-a-Frisco-resident spend their weekends watching FSA soccer games — will soon include a 5K trail, bike skills tracks, and an amphitheater!

  • In news a smidge south of Frisco, the redevelopment of The Shops at Willow Bend — now dubbed "The Bend" — will involve demolishing the southern half of the mall, including Macy’s, preserving the section from Neiman-Marcus to Dillard’s. Key retailers Dillard’s, Neiman Marcus, and The Crayola Experience get to stay, along with popular dining spot, John Tesar’s Knife Steakhouse. The new inclusion of townhomes will foster live-play-work vibes (referred to as a “mixed-use development,” officially).

Sports Spotlight

From rec to pro, there’s always, always (literally always) a game to catch in “Sports City USA.”

The 2025 Dallas Open concluded on Sunday after providing tennis fans with an epic week of entertainment and cool experiences. Frisco was a fantastic host, transforming the Ford Center and the Star District with tennis-themed, upscale pop-ups, and photo opportunities galore.

A handful of 🔥hot headlines🔥 from elsewhere.

  • If you missed the Super Bowl because you were at your kid’s basketball game, it’s all good - you can find the latest celebrity-filled and deep-pocketed ads online at your convenience. Among the standout moments were Ben Affleck's return to the DunKings and David Beckham's humorous encounter with his long-lost twin Dave, played by Matt Damon, in a Stella Artois ad. The cast of Schitt's Creek also made memorable appearances, while Glen Powell shared a heartwarming story for Ram trucks. Fans of When Harry Met Sally were delighted to see Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal reunite at Katz's Deli after 35 years for a Hellmann's commercial.

  • In a move that might make Abe Lincoln shed a copper tear, President Trump has ordered the penny to be tossed into history's coin jar. Citing the fact that each penny costs more than two cents to make, Trump decided it's time to stop minting the one-cent coin. Now, businesses might have to round prices to the nearest nickel, and piggy banks everywhere are bracing for a lighter load. Looks like it's time to say goodbye to those "lucky pennies"!

  • The pet microchip company "Save This Life" has abruptly ceased operations, prompting animal shelters and organizations to urge pet owners to re-register their pets with a different service. If you're unsure which company micro-chipped your pet, you can call your vet to find out. Fortunately, there's no need to re-chip your pet—just re-register it with a new company.

  • The office intern is probably feeling the pressure, knowing their coffee run just got trickier. In a bid to revamp operations, new Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol has introduced changes to the mobile ordering system, reducing the maximum items per order from 15 to 12. Additionally, Starbucks will no longer allow customers to add a splash of milk or lemonade to the Refresher drink (wait, what?!) or order a caffè americano without water (again, what?!). These new rules aim to reduce the number of large, complex orders that overwhelm baristas, causing delays and dissatisfaction among customers. More adjustments are on the horizon.

  • Valentine's Day 2025 is all about unique and personalized gifts! From heart monogram necklaces to custom Funko Pop figures, there's something for everyone. Whether you're looking to impress with a luxurious chocolate box or a bouquet of vibrant tulips, these gifts are sure to make your sweetheart swoon.
