Frisco Rumor Mill

The latest whispers and speculations about exciting local developments, from potential new biz openings to upcoming community projects and events everyone is talking about.

  • Bitty & Beau's Coffee recently opened a new location in Frisco. This unique coffee shop is known for employing individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, celebrating diversity, and promoting human rights! So. Very. Cool! Make it a point to stop by soon and enjoy something delish from their beverage menu!

  • So, approximately 14,000 people voted in last weekend’s local election (of the approx. 140,000 registered voters in Frisco). Here’s what the 10% decided: It’s a no-go on Props A and B, the proposed $340 million funding for a Frisco Center for the Arts. Meanwhile, for the Frisco ISD school board, an incumbent was re-elected, and a couple of new voices were brought to the table. The race for City Council resulted in not one but two run-off elections to look forward to on June 7. If you live here, these elections impact you, so please consider informing yourself on the candidates and weighing in!

While You Wait

Maybe you’re in the school carpool line or you’re “waiting for the host to start the meeting” — whatever you’re doing, we have some quick hits for you:

Order: Good news for your next book club or poker night — we heard that Instacart has launched Fizz, a 21+ drinks and snack delivery app that can help you plan your next get-together. The app lets hosts invite guests to their carts to choose items and split the bill before scheduling a delivery.

Go: Try something new this summer — head south to Waco Surf, a hidden gem for family fun. Take surfing lessons in the massive surf lagoon and wakeboarding cable park, tube the world’s longest lazy river, try the Wedge Water Slides, or chillax in a cabana.

Mourn: In random news that only someone over the age of 40 will appreciate, Skype has joined the tech graveyard, officially retired by Microsoft after 23 years. Its more corporate sibling, Microsoft Teams, is ready to welcome users and their data.
