The latest whispers and speculations about exciting local developments, from potential new biz openings to upcoming community projects and events everyone is talking about. Have a scoop? Send us a note.
We’re now “DFW AF” — but it’s not what you think. The DFW Metroplex is getting a fun, new nickname to include Arlington and Frisco in the mix. Our Mayor even referred to "DFFW" recently to highlight Frisco’s growth and vibrant startup scene, the latter of which also prompted him to suggest we could be “the next Austin.” (Thoughts about that? Tell us!")
🛒🥑 Whole Foods is bringing its organic goodness to Frisco with a new location at The Mix! Get ready to fill your carts with fresh produce, prepared meals, gourmet treats, and best of all — possible Amazon Fresh delivery! If you’ve been around a minute, you may recall we expected Whole Foods ten years ago as part of the now-defunct Wade Park. If you missed our update on The Mix, check out “The Mix: Frisco’s Long-Awaited Answer to “The Hole on the Toll.”
Pickle and Social is coming in 2025! Expected at Frisco Station, the venue will offer 7 indoor and 6 outdoor premier pickleball courts adjacent to the full-service restaurant, bar, and lounge. In addition, we’ll get to enjoy unique hangout spots like the Rooftop Bar & Terrace, private event spaces, the ACL Cornhole Yard with a live music stage, and a variety of lawn games. Here’s the thing: the last update we heard locally about this project was in 2024. We’ve reached out to ask for a better sense of when it will open, but meanwhile, they’ve added it to their list of new locations coming soon, so that’s encouraging!
Our neighbor McKinney is getting a new mixed-use project along the US 380. Northgate, a walkable 146-acre development, will feature tons of retail space, including an anchor grocery store and a mix of restaurants, entertainment venues, fitness centers, boutique shopping, a hotel, multi-family residences, and office buildings — basically all the things…as per the trend of mixed-use developments in North Texas.

Recommendation of the Week
🌿📱Have you touched grass today? If you’re an avid doomscroller, you’ve likely been told to “touch grass.” The popular internet slang term means participating in activities in the real world as opposed to online experiences.
Guess what? There's a new viral app called "Touch Grass" that makes you go outside and comply before you can unlock your social media apps. The app will ask you to select two apps that you find to be the most distracting or the most time-consuming, and the app will block them. The only way to unlock your apps is to take a picture of yourself outside literally touching grass and uploading it to the app.
Sounds like a fun way to help us reconnect with nature and curb the doomscrolling habit. Touch Grass became available in the App Store for iPhone users on Friday, March 14th. It’s free, though upgrading will cost $6 per month or $50 annually.

On this Day in History
March 18, 1995: After retiring from the NBA in October 1993 to pursue a baseball career, it was exactly 30 years ago today that Michael Jordan shocked the sports world with a two-word, faxed press release that said:
"I'm back."
The next day, on March 19, 1995, he played his first game back with the Chicago Bulls against the Indiana Pacers, wearing the number 45 instead of his iconic 23. Even though the Bulls lost that game, MJ quickly shook off the rust and led the team to the playoffs. The following season, he returned to championship form, leading the Bulls to a historic 72-10 record and the first of three straight NBA titles. 🏆🏆🏆 Check out the video, below.
