A Can't-Miss Restaurant, Tropical Vibes, and an 80's Mix Tape
⸺Local News and Events + Hot Topics Beyond the Bubble

Welcome back to Frisco FYI, the official newsletter of Lifestyle Frisco! It’s a little gloomy outside, so we’re bringing the SUN and FUN and FOOD to keep the summer vibes flowing!
Did you hear there’s a new restaurant opening at the Boardwalk next week? We’ve got BTS details straight from the Chef-Owner. Meanwhile, you need to vote (again) this Saturday to decide the run-off for City Council, and it’s time to start planning how you’ll roll out the red carpet for dear ol’ dad this Father’s Day.
But first, we’ve rounded up some fun events that are happening this weekend! Let’s get to it!
Top 5 Things to Do This Weekend
🍍🌺🌴 Polynesian Festival: This Saturday, Kaleidoscope Park is bringing the sights, sounds, and flavors of the islands to Frisco! This free tropical celebration will feature island-inspired food vendors, arts and crafts, luau-style games, music, and live Polynesian dance performances.
⚾🌭Promo Nights at Frisco RoughRiders: The ‘Riders play the Springfield Cardinals this week and have some fun promos planned! Choose from Wine Night, Thirsty Thursday, Scout Night, or Bluey Night, among others. Friday is Texas Rangers Night, and you can secure a Kumar Rocker Bobblehead, then stick around after the game for postgame fireworks!
🥧🍒Friday Night Market: Tomorrow night, beat the heat with a fun evening of Bingo Karaoke at Frisco Fresh Market! Bring your dogs, friends, and kids to enjoy special food and other goods from FFM vendors.
💕⛳Date Night at PGA: Grab your “plus one” and head to the PGA of America Coaching Center for a golf-themed date night. The evening begins with an hour of gameplay - a perfect opportunity to show off your skills or lend a helping hand to your partner. After a round on the links, enjoy a 25% discount at Ice House or Lounge by Topgolf.
🎶🪩Music in the Square: Every Friday night in June, bring your lawn chairs, picnic blankets, your food, and your crew to Simpson Plaza for a lineup of local talent. This week, relive the magic of an iconic era as local band “80’s Mix Tape” transports you to a time of big hair, neon lights, and unforgettable music.

Grab your visor and your loudest golf clap, because the CJ Cup Byron Nelson is sticking around McKinney through 2030 — and it’s not just about birdies and bogeys. It’s a full-on celebration of golf, community, and Texas pride. Hosted at the TPC Craig Ranch, this PGA TOUR stop brings world-class talent (hello, Scottie Scheffler!) and serious charitable chops, having raised over $190 million for kids’ mental health.
In other golf news, the 70th edition of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship will be a significant one, as it marks the first women’s major to be played at Frisco’s Fields Ranch East course, with many more to come.
In non-golf news, the Rail District space formerly known as Lotties will become Dad Jokes Cheesyburger by summer’s end.
The Omni PGA Frisco has gone full island mode with its Tiki Social pop-up—a poolside paradise serving up tropical cocktails crafted by tiki legend Jeff “Beachbum” Berry. From coconut-rimmed concoctions to bold, beachy vibes, this limited-time escape runs through Labor Day and is open to both hotel guests and locals with day passes.
Okay, the former Exide Battery Recycling Center — if you KNOW you KNOW, this has been a sticky situation for years. This week, Texas State Representative and Frisco resident Jared Patterson has secured funding for the City of Frisco for its ongoing efforts to remediate the site. Once the cleanup is complete, it should help push forward the development of Grand Park, the 1,011-acre crown jewel of North Texas public parks spanning from Dallas North Tollway west to Lake Lewisville and FM 423.

Guess who's back and bringing the Mediterranean heat to the Boardwalk? Chef-Owner Tanner Agar is spicing things up with a modern twist on classic coastal cuisine — think bold flavors, sleek vibes, and a whole lot of hummus swagger.
